I need to know how to install caller on windows 7 laptop
Try googling "caller ID software.
You would need to have a modem to take the phone line input. If your computer doesn't already have a modem built in, you can get USB modems for under $30, I think. Check out NewEgg or TigerDirect, or just check google for that too. Then you need some software that handles caller ID. I used to use a program called Call Station that was great, had a lot of options to keep track of who called, save and organize voice messages etc. A simpler program that is free is PhoneTray. EZVoice was supposedly also a good one, but I never tried that one. These are all made to work with land lines, not mobile phones. Also, some modems have difficulty getting the caller id signals from digital lines such as those provided by cable companies like Comcast or RCN etc. Check the forum (or maybe it's a FAQ area) at Impulse Technologies (makers of CallStation) for their comments and recommendations about that. Supposedly modems that use the Agere chipset worked better than others with caller ID provided by cable companies, but that info is 4 years old, there may be more recent ones from other chipset makers that work okay at this point.
Good luck!
