Whoa, were are you looking? $8/month for a TLD is very expensive. There are many places where you can buy TLDs for about $10/year but the cheapest place I have found is Internet.bs - between $7-8 a year for a TLD with free private registration. dotTech is currently registered with 1and1.com (biggest mistake of my life) but I plan on moving to Internet.bs soon.

Haha yeah that was actually on my mind but so far, i only found .com .org .net TLDs that costs the lowest $8/mth. I remember coming across ads that say $10/year but just can't find it. Thats why I thought 100 sub domains that looks pretty decent (co.cc kinda short) would be fine as i was just trying out on websites and custom emails, nothing serious as of now.

Do you have any recommendations? I'll definitely buy them.

A quick google search got me:

http://www(dot)dynonames(dot)com/

I'm new to this, so I'm afraid there's some fine lines that I missed.

One more thing: If you are willing to pay money (like the $10 you mentioned above) I highly suggest you spend it elsewhere. Paying $10 for a subdomain (which is what essential a .co.cc is) is a waste of money. For $10 a year you can get a TLD.

Hmm, weird. CO.CC must work a different way, then.

You see what happens is whenever you set a domain to point at nameservers, the web host of the nameservers controls the MX entries (e-mail entries) related to that domain unless the MX entries have specifically been changed at the domain registrar. If the e-mail and website is working fine for you, than "if it ain't broke don't fix it".

If in the future it stops working, just add A entries (the IP address of the nameservers) and MX entries (Google's servers -- what I provided above) to the "Zone Records" and you will be good.

In theory, switching to nameservers should cancel the Google Apps because nameservers points the domain to a specific web host, who then controls the MX entries. However, it could be that co.cc saves MX entries after Google Apps has been setup, allowing you to point to nameservers.

Duttie if you can give me a screenshot of what the "Zone Records" shows you I can better help you out.

1) Yeah I did the same thing like you too. Followed the guide, google apps verified the domain, set up Name Server, website is up right now. Basically everything's up, but I wanted to make sure the settings are correct.

2) Ouh okey it's good to know..

3) Yeah I tried using whois afew days ago and found it almost all the detail I provided them, wasnt masked. That's what made me think twice on using my main email and putting real details. I guess I'll just use my nickname...

EDIT: Quite a few posts were posted while I was writing this. I'll try to update this if necessary.

@Duttie

1.) I've set up my websites a little differently than Ashraf said above (with the MX records). If you follow the steps on

http://dottech.org/freebies/5325

You should get to a point where you copy and paste the CNAME record from Google onto the CO.CC setup. After Google Apps verifies that you own the website, there is no longer any use for "Google Apps Email Setup", and thus, you can switch over to "Name Servers". This is assuming that you reached the confirmation page in Google Apps, which signifies that Google Apps no longer needs to verify that your co.cc is actually yours. After switching to Name Servers with "ns01.000webhost.com" and "ns02.000webhost.com", you should be able to keep your email and have your custom 000webhost enabled co.cc. I've been able to do this before in the past, so in theory, it should work. I haven't done it in a while so this may not be the actual process, but I'm pretty sure that this is what I did.

2.) I have a few accounts working, and no $10 nor deletion notice. This could be because I clear my cookies, cache, and anything else a website may want to store, often.

3.) Since it is easy for anyone to find out where you live and attempt to spam you, I would suggest keeping that information private. However, I'm pretty sure that they would like to have some information about you just in case of some "suspicious activity", so it is probably against their TOS. If you know co.cc sites, you can use the co.cc whois (http://www.co.cc/whois.php) to see what other users gave as information for their accounts.

4.) My site is undergoing some maintenance, so I brought it down for a day or so. I'm making some changes under the hood, and I wouldn't want hackers to break in while I am doing that.

I hope I answered most of the questions that you have, just ask if you need more information.
