It's possible some registry components got left behind. If you've tried rebooting, try CCleaner or something like that to check the registry for leftover stuff.

It looks like to me that balesio used this Context Manager Platinum product (which is fine) without paying the developer fee for it. So when they distributed the FileMinimizer product, it causes this problem for the end user. I don't think Context Manager Platinum is malware, just a company trying to enforce a trial period for developers that use their product.

I installed FileMinimizer Pictures from Giveawayoftheday, but I didn't think the scumware was associated with this install, but you are correct.

The scumware company is Balesio. http://www.balesio.com/fileminimizerpictures/eng/index.php. If they knowing did this, they should be blacklisted.

Instead of starting the program, it would popup an annoying window titled "Context Menu Platinum - UNREGISTERED VERSION" that had lots of text in it extolling the virtues of this program and two buttons for "Register Now" and a "Continue Trial" button with a countdown timer. You couldn't get rid of the window until the countdown timer finished (over a minute).

At first I thought it was some sort of malware but Avira and MalwareBytes didn't find anything. A google search didn't yield anything but a company that sells software that enables developers to easily add items to the right-click menu. There was nothing on their website about removing it.

I also tried registry cleaners to no avail. Since the program was using .NET according to the website, I even tried removing .NET (via Remove Windows Components). But that actually broke almost everything on my laptop (Avira wouldn't even run), so I had to do a system restore.

Anyway, after trying to remember when the problem had started, I decided to uninstall FileMinimizer Pictures. Suspiciously, the uninstall required a reboot to complete. And then my problem was gone.
