I'm using FF 3.6.8, had some serious slowdown problems starting with (I think!) 3.6.6. About 1 in 10 pages would result in a "server timeout" screen. I disabled the "Link Extend" addon and all is well. I'm filling out a lot of job application screens these days (many with long forms, lots of boxes).
I hesitate to say Link Extend is the culprit because it's a Helpful and Powerful addon that I started using a lot. I'm hoping it just conflicts with another addon that I can afford to lose. Haven't had the time to do a pairwise test with all my addons yet… (Link Extend gives you figertip access to security ratings for sites, very flexible web search options, many other features).
So, for any of you seeing the slowdown, are you using Link Extend?
Does disabling Link Extend help?
Is anyone using Link Extend with NO slowdowns?
I was told there would be no math...

I have an icq issue with FF
I did a search and low and behold it came up under an icq search bar soooo I did a search and found out that ICQ search is a part of FF. I hate Icq so I do not have it anywhere on my computer. It is much too invasive and controlling.
Sooo I go to about:config but I confirmed there are a number icq entries.
Not sure what to do, I left it alone.
What is the best way to remove this junk from my computer without causing probs to FF or should I just uninstall and go back to an older version?

This is very weird. Unless I'm misunderstanding ur post… Did u ever install ICQ or had any ICQ related apps on ur pc?
I can't see any other way it would end up being a part of FF (unless you had the toolbar for FF). My about:config returned nothing concerning ICQ.

If you're having Firefox issues, we always have room for more Opera users
But if you want to stick with Firefox, you should upgrade to the 4.0 beta.

Oooh boy. Opera. I hate, hate hate hate hate hate hate hate, how Opera handles the SCROLLING mechanism. Who decided that the browser should go COMPLETELY against SCROLLING conventions and instead of SCROLLING like SCOLLING normally does it GOES BACK A PAGE.

I appreciate what you are asking me, and maybe if I knew how to upload a screen capture, I could show you my search results and that might help you all assist me.
I just want to get rid of any reference to icq off my computer.
I have gadwin and the vista snipping tool to capture the info.

Click on the "insert/edit image" button when typing a reply. Enter the Dropbox image url. Or, you could just paste in the image URL here and we can simply click on it.

Try going to Tools>Addons and seeing if you can find and uninstall any ICQ addons. If they're there and you can't uninstall them, or if they aren't there, go to Remove Programs (or Add and Remove Programs) and see if there are any references to ICQ there.
What you have is an ICQ addon.

Hi Locutus
I posted a response but I don't know what happened to it. I guess the dot tech gremlins ate it OR I posted in the wrong place.
Anyway, I said that the above did not work and I did some looking around on the web and it appears that there are others having "toolbar" removal issues also and they did the same thing that you suggested.
I was just wondering if I did a permanent delete with my files tool program would that do any harm as far as FF was concerned?
I do not understand how a SW maker could allow TP addons that cannon be removed.
I am really thinking of getting another browser. But who knows, may have another issue with any of them.
