Apparently it is associated with services for IPv6 and if, like most people, you are using IPv4 you can disable it.

 I already disabled it until I find a better solution. But it seems to allow IPv6 connectivity on a IPv4 Network from what I saw but could be the source got it backward. Not sure. Anyway when I disable it the CPU goes back to normal usage. It seems like maybe having that one run so high caused some others to run high as well. I am wondering if maybe a recent Windows update caused the problem? I don't know. But that is the workaround I am using till can find a more permanent solution.

That process alone in the net services group is running a really high cpu usage, according to the resource monitor it is averaging around 30-35 %. Does anyone know of a fix for this?

That may help. Also try using Process explorer, as i am pretty sure that can tell you what they are running.

If i were you i would just go ahead and use svchost viewer first and then once you've discovered what is causing the high cpu usage, you can attempt to fix it yourself or refer to the article i mentioned as i think people suggested programs such as process tamer and such things to help.

They have things to help optimize and such as that could be one thing to help if you havent done something like that recenent. Also another free program you should get if dont have is CleanMem.. helps optimize your memory better than the 2 above programs and that will help on performance as well..

 

Also, maybe havent restarted lately and just left machine going for them to build up??  I know at least 1 svc host on mine with win7 takes up quite a bit.. but my cpu usage stays low unless i have a program that i make it use all my cores and such..

Recently my computer seems to be running much more slowly. I have not really installed any new programs or anything that would make it run slowly. I found out it was running slowly because of a high amount of CPU usage. Usually it hovers between eighty and ninety percent use. Is this normal? I have a netbook with a 1.6 GHz processor. It seems like there are two svchost processes that seem to be using up a lot of the processor. One of thos tends to hover between 10-20%. That doesn't seem normal. So I checked with task manager to see what services those were hosting but they all seemed necessary. I do not know why my laptop suddenly seems to be getting much slower but am wondering what I can do about it???

 

An update: now one of those svchost processes is at 43% and one at 13%. Could I have a virus that is utilizing those services? I use Avast!. But it just seems strange for some services to take up that much CPU. Admittedly one of them is running a lot of services but still it doesn't seem like it should be that busy.
