Before I got replies on this thread, I kept trying to remove it from boot menu and was able to eventualy using the windows bcdedit in cmd. However, when i tried to delete the windows files and folders on the drive, i got same message about access denied. tried to change owners and no luck there.

As for my old documents, i still cannot access many of them. I cannot unlock them.

 Technically speaking, moving the OS onto a smaller partition should be feasible... A huge hassle but still feasible. You would first need to move all your data files, I guess next would be to strip your OS as much as possible (removing as many programs as you can, even some Windows components), and then you could use a partitioning tool to shrink the OS and see if you are in the destination partition's margin... If not, do some more stripping.

No reason for it not to work this way. But like I said... Hassle.

Q. Can I restore the image to a smaller partition?

A. No, currently you can only restore your data to a partition that is exactly the same size or larger, regardless of the data size.

It looks like you might have to manually copy all your data to the other hard drive with a Linux live cd or similar.

Also, master/slave doesn't necessarily apply to newer drives. It mainly occurred with IDE drives where you actually had to jumper them to determine which was the master and the slave. I don't think SATA drives make this distinction.

@Hasanz: How about you create an image backup of HD2 and restore it on HD1? Or copy one hard drive to another. I believe DriveImage XML (http://www.runtime.org/driveimage-xml.htm) will let you do both.

So main drive is C: drive, and slave drives are D: and H: drives? Something like that? If so, alright, thanks.

asking my which windows copy to boot each time i turn my pc on.

The way I would do it is by removing the boot path for the second Win 7:

- Click on start and type " msconfig " in the search field and hit enter

The second tab is BOOT. That's where you'll be working. If you have two win installs, both will be listed and you will have the option to delete the one that you don't want (keep in mind this won't uninstall windows), so next time you boot you'll get one choice only.

* The one you're using should be " Current OS;default OS ".

As for as the files you can't access, not too long ago Dottech had a pretty good article on the subject:
