i dislike IE very much but it is the only browser to perform windows updates. for some reason the update page isn’t loading. it just says:

*ive tried setting it up as an exeption for the firewall too…

It’s cause of that virus, read this:

@PCbasics: If there is still a virus problem, maybe you should try Super AntiSpyware.

Well it’s one of those settings that viruses change when they arrive and malware software don’t (is that the correct form?) change back.

 It’s probably caused by the virus. Check under tools – internet options – connections – Lan settings. If use proxy server is checked, uncheck it.

That should re-establish your browser connection.

Also check if your NIC hasn’t been disabled too ( I had a scenario where the virus disabled my Nic card ).

i actually was going to download that automatic installer to get rid of the virus then i read your post to say NOT to get it!
