Let me add to that the farther you go back, the more likely you'll have something “broken” after the restore… Confused Go figure.

MSE isn't as lightweight as you think. I've tried it and it doesn't work well on my old Pentium 4 desktop. Both Avast and Avira uses even less resources than MSE.

System Restore has NEVER EVER worked for me, i have only ever used it when i needed to the most and it has COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY FAILED for me every time, i was so deviststated when it didn't work, you'd have thought that Microsoft would have fixed it by now so that it restores every time.

ANNOYING!!!!!!!Yell

Difficult, to be sure…..but it shall be done!!

Hey everyone,

Unless PCbasics has had his problem fixed, lets stop the off-topic talk, or someone create another thread if you want to continue discussion. The guy asked for help and we have stolen his spotlight.

I think I remember from one Lifehacker article saying you should only use system restore from safe mode for it to work properly. But it's still blurry to me…

One instance where system restore saved me was when I had a virus lol. This virus disabled my AV and only after restore did my AV work again. I guess it's only useful as a last resort when nothing else works.

(aw shucks, we posted at the same time…sorry Ashraf)
