Running win XP….i have no audio and for some reason every time i want to adjust the volume….it says something like no mixer installed!!??
When I reinstalled XP on my old laptop, it did that too. Just find the disc that came with the computer and reinstall any audio drivers, they may have gotten corrupted.

Go to Control Panel – System – Hardware – Device Manager
and tell us what you see for sound, video and game controllers (red X, yellow ! or unknown device)
it says no audio device…..but i have my speakers plugged in!….i checked….and btw when i click…it makes that "click sound" (which proves the speakers a working), but when i'm trying to watch a video i tried everything to get it to work and it still won't!

I don't have XP anymore, but…… there is a sound & speaker test………& please check your sound devices to see if they are "working properly"…
..& your drivers, too…..
……..& check your running processes & services with AnVir or Windows Task Manager
I'll try to think of more ideas [if my brain doesn't hurt too much!]

OfflineAs the previous post, try reloading your audio drivers. If that doesn't work, try this…
If it's a PCI card, you'll have to remove it and re-insert it, to check if it's still good:
- Turn off ur pc, unplug the power cord and press the power button
- Open ur case , and make sure you touch the metal frame to get rid of any static
- Locate your audio card and remove it ( you'll probably have to remove a little screw to do that)
- Replace the card (you can use a different slot if there's one available) and make sure it sits nice and tight all the way (you should here a little pop sound)
* Don't push too hard, you don't want to crack your board!
- Replace the screw and close the case, reconnect power cord and turn on your pc.
If the card is still good windows will see it and you'll get the found new hardware wizard. If you don't, you should consider a new sound card.
Now if your audio is onboard (no pci card), just get a PCI audio card. In my experience when the onboard audio does not show in Device Manager, it's gone. You could try reloading the audio drivers for your board and if that fails, get a PCI sound card.

BTW: DID YOU GET RID OF THE VIRUS
YET????????? If not… or not sure, that may (or may not be) related….
…..but that must be a priority!!!—--the other stuff is "fluff" ………until you have a clean & stable OS!
Well that site that Locutus gave me….was removed by Ashraf…or one of the admins…..but that site said i was suppose to remove a specific file….when i installed the malware byte software i scaned my computer and the files that were infected were different from the files that the site that Locutus gave me said to delete!!???….i don't even know if its gone but….yea.

Viruses are pretty good at hiding, renaming and duplicating themselves. So yes, it is IMPERATIVE that you are absolutly sure you've completely removed it. Your pc might run fiine for a while and later show the same problems.
Those files that they recommend you to remove, try to find them manually and get rid of them. I'm pretty sure they were also some registry keys you have to remove, take care of that too.
What's the verdict on the audio?
