if you auto run too many programs and have not tweaked you OS to not run uneeded services

and run too many security products then you can have problems. best to optimise your machine first.

Options to kill apps.

on your system taskkill.exe /f /fi “status eq not responding”

By registry settings :-

Kill Apps “AutoEndTasks”

shut down apps automatically
Go to Start –> Run –> regedit
Go to the following key: HKEY_CURRENT_USERControl PanelDesktop.
In the right hand pane, double-click “AutoEndTasks” and change the Value Data to 1 to enable automatic app kills.
To disable the feature, change the Value Data back to “0”.

Note: Keep in mind Windows might end up killing critical services
before they have time to recover themselves

Kill Apps “WaitToKillAppTimeout”
Go to Start –> Run –> regedit
Go to the following key: HKEY_CURRENT_USERControl PanelDesktop
In the right hand pane, find the key “WaitToKillAppTimeout”, double click it and set the time to wait for not responding applications to come back to normal. The time is in milliseconds. If you want to end the task immediately, give the value as 0

Kill Apps “WaitToKillServiceTimeout”

Change the time that Windows waits before killing a system service when shutting down, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControl and double-click on “WaitToKillServiceTimeout” and enter a value. The default 20000 milliseconds.

You can try cleanmem. It cleans out the system memory. Though if I understand your problem correctly it isn't necessarily a problem that they stay in the memory after they are closed but that they do not close when you tell them to. But cleanmem is always useful even if it doesn't fix the problem. You could also try using the windows task manager to forcibly close those programs. Is it any specific program(s) that you find do(es) this or is it just every program in general? You could check just to make sure. http://dottech.org/freeware-reviews/9354 that is the link to Ashraf's article on it. Although it may not fix the problem I hope it is useful to you. But you can try it.

I have quit programs and have found them still open in memory using Sysinternals Process Explorer. I try to kill these processes but they remain for some time (up to 10 minutes before they die). My system is safe as I have run various security programs on it.

Please Help Me!!!
