        	        	<description><![CDATA[<p>I'm glad to say I think this issue has been fixed!<br />
Have upgraded to windows 7 and have not frozen since! <img src="http://dottech.org/wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-laugh.gif" title="Laugh" alt="Laugh" /></p>
<p>Seems it was an incompatibility between hardware and software all along.</p>
<p>But I'll answer the questions anyway:<br />
It will (would) freeze running any video even if it's a dvd.<br />
I'm sure it's not viruses cause it continued straight after being reformatted. <br />
I only run avast as real time protection.<br />
It becomes completely unresponsive as in can not do anything. <img src="http://dottech.org/wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-laugh.gif" title="Laugh" alt="Laugh" /></p>

        	        	<description><![CDATA[<p>Does this happen when you are watching videos that are online or *any* videa (like a DVD)?&#160; This could be a network problem which you could test by not being connected to the internet...though you could run into some hangs from the computer waiting on a network resource that isn&#39;t there (this will time out though).</p>
<p>Make sure you don&#39;t have any malware or virus&#39;s.&#160; Along the same lines, make sure you don&#39;t have multiple real time protection software as they might be locking up your computer if they both try to block each other.</p>
<p>When you say your computer freezes...do you mean it is entirely unresponsive??&#160; Can you bring up Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc)?</p>
<p>Zomodo is absolutely correct about PSUs.&#160; They are the most failure prone piece of hardware in a computer.&#160; You need to make sure you have a good PSU and also make sure you are using the connections correctly.&#160; Most modern motherboards have extra power connectors for the CPU and Graphics Card.&#160; If you can provide a link to your MB and Graphics Card that would be helpful.</p>

        	        	<description><![CDATA[<p>Hi, well, this is my first post, too.</p>
<p>If your Hard Drive died, I am pretty sure that it is not a problem with any things like your video card, memory, motherboard, etc.</p>
<p>The PSU may need to be upgraded. The PSU is one of the most under-estimated things in a PC. All PC now should have at least 300 W. If your PSU's power is lower than 400 W (since your system requires much more power), then that may be your problem.</p>

<p>Hi this is my first post but I need help.</p>
<p>
I bought a new computer last year or so.</p>
<p>
It's always frozen completly all I can do is hard reboot it.</p>
<p>
I took it back to the shop it came from but they say theres no problem with it.</p>
<p>
I then bought a graphics card cause I thought it was that but it made no difference.</p>
<p>
Then the harddrive started ticking and eventually died (I lost all data as I keep no backup <img src='http://dottech.org/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_surprised.gif' alt='<img src="http://dottech.org/wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-surprised.gif" title="Surprised" alt="Surprised" />' class='wp-smiley' /> )</p>
<p>
once the new hard drive was installed and vista reinstalled the problem continued.</p>
<p>
I ran memtest86+ but no errors.</p>
<p>
It happens most when watching video but other than that it can be idling and freeze by itself or even just while browsing the net. </p>
<p>
Any help must appreciated!</p>
<p>
Thanks in advance!<img src="http://dottech.org/wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-laugh.gif" title="Laugh" alt="Laugh" /> </p>
