hey dottechies- need of assistance please!!

so a couple months ago i downloaded the Nvidia video card update

I have the:NVIDIA GeForce 9300 GE

Now about 2-3 days ago i came home from school and discovered I had a yellow triangle with a exclamation mark inside it in the area with the time, and other programs [I am running Vista Home Premium].. i did some research on the internet sort of ignored it

today whoever I started to get some flickers and shimmers on the screen and it wouldn't go away until i restarted the computer [i leave my computer on over night frequently] … now i dont know if it's something wrong with the Nvidia graphics card itself or the software update?

Also I just redid the windows experience index and my score dropped from a 4.0 to a 3.7

i just saw that nvidia released a new update: can someone check it out for me {i have to go to school now} and see what it includes, etc and explain it??

http://www.nvidia.com/object/w…..river.html

after the shutdown it has been perfectly alright for now but should i install the update for the graphics card or not?? [i dont play much games on the computer.. just watch movies, or do homework, music, etc]

a thing to note however, when i open up many tabs in firefox the screen sort of “flickers” but goes away after a couple of seconds. like bascially there would be a black bar or something that appears and disappears in those few seconds

If you're experiencing graphics issues, install the driver update by all means!

Drivers are the kind of thing that are “if it ain't broke, don't fix it”.  In your case, it is broke, so do fix it.

Do install the update.

Oh, the site that was :(

ill  probable end up doing just that locutus, but one question does come to mind. I never really updated my graphics card ever since I got the computer [about 2 or more years ago].. and well after i installed the update [not the one I'm going to do, but the one that caused me some problems] the problems sort of started with the screen starting  to flicker, etc. My best guess was I never put the graphics card to so much intense usage under the old driver, but what do you think?

but thanks so much for the help, i reallly really appreciate it!!

Did you never game, then install the driver, then start gaming? Cause that might be it. But otherwise, if your usage didn't change, you could also just roll back to the previous one.

well i never was a game player. i just got Assassin's Creed II on CD and i installed and played it on uber low settings [but that was the old update].. but i played it once or twice for 5-10 minutes.. then i got a bit bored and unable to use the mouse and keyboard at the same time [it irritated me lol].. after that i just did not play games and updated it cuz i read an article online saying you should update your drivers, etc.
