Hi,

I'm the guy that started the other thread mentioned about this same basic topic.

Rather than going through the entire long conversation I had in that thread, I'll just tell you that after I uninstalled a-squared, iobit 360 pro, and avg my computer made a major jump in speed.

If you want to look through that conversation to see what might apply in your situation, it's the tread "Just courious...". Right now it shows up in the Recent Forum Posts section on the right side of the screen. But if it drops off there you can find it in the "Talk it up" section of the forums. Unless of course the Admins move it to the Tech Support, which is where I should have started it.

Yes, i have heard many good reviews and comments about Norton 2010 at the moment i am using 2009 but plan to upgrade when the program expires.

I think i am going to uninstall A-Squared, i don't need it, it was a "just in case" program.

I'll wait untill the end of the day and then uninstall, just to see if anyone else reply's.

I would think that Norton would also be able "to make sure that everything i download is safe and my computer is free of viruses and Malware". I don't know what version you are running, but the 2010 Norton has gotten good reviews and apparently they are actually listening to users about making software that is lighter on system resources.

Well the last Virus i had was before i installed Iobit Security 360, and it fully removed it, Norton Has always protected me from Hackers and threats that try to "attack" the computer from the internet, and Iobit is there to make sure that everything i download is safe and my computer is free of viruses and Malware.

I just kind of installed A-Squared for that extra layer and to check whether there were any viruses left but it never found any, my computer was clean thanks to Iobit and Norton.

I don't actually use A-Squared that much now anyway. I just want a few more techies opinions before i get rid of A-Squared.

Thanks for replying Karen

P.S. All Techies who reply to this, uninstalling Norton is not an option, i am not getting rid of that.

There's another post on here about a-squared slowing down computers. I tried it out and then uninstalled it because it did slow my computer down (Vista Home Premium x64 at the time).

I think running anything other than a firewall and a security package is enough. Even running ioBit 360 resident in memory is overkill, I think. I just run MalwareBytes occasionally without having it resident in memory. I use the Windows firewall and Avira and coupled with smart surfing I've never had a virus issue.

Hi dottechies,

I have been on Dottech for at leat a year now i think, but this is my first forum post, so listen carefully.

I first bought my brand new Vista computer in june 2009 and it was superfast, the fastest computer i have seen. Since then there have been a few minor issues not much was Vista's fault but anyway. I have installed since then My Norton Internet Security (I know "its Norton" and most of you think its crap but i dont care), and a while after that i installed Iobit Security 360 at its giveaway time. Later in November i think, i installed A-Squared Anti-Malware Pro and this is where the problem starts. I am wondering whether to remove it or not as since then there has been a considerable decrease in the speed of my computer and i have defragmented, and removed programs that i didn't need, i even cleaned up the registry, but to no avail. This only gave a temporary speed boost and the next time it begins to slow down again.

I still have the A-Squared Anti-Malware on my computer but i have turned it off and stopped it turning on at startup.

I am just wondering whether to remove it and keep what i have got, Norton Internet Security 2009 and Iobit security 360 Pro. BTW when i had actually installed A-Squared it found no Viruses anyway as Iobit had in fact already removed them and Norton has prevented any Hackers, Worms and Drive-by-Downloads.

Thanks to anyone who can give me advice.

Conn09
