Ask Wheezer, he started this topic.
AlanR: Don't be dragging me into this,,, stuff. I simply asked a question and have replied only to the one honest attempt to help made by Phoenix_Rising.
If you want to take shots (even if in fun) at Ashraf and Locutus, you are on your own. I will n o t be part of it.
Ashraf: You use google? I laughed because I use Word the same way when necessary.

If, however, you are open to "off-site"
suggestions, I would propose you take a look at FF add-in "FoxLingo" -
it has toolbar functions that allow dictionary and grammar checks as
well as web-translations and more.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2444
Maybe
you share Ashraf's aversion to toolbars but, sometimes IMHO they CAN be
useful.
Hope this is more to your liking.

I have an adversion to toolbars too but not sure why, Maybe it is because I like a clean screen.
I was helping someone once and they had like six or seven toolbars,
which took up a large portion of the screen. Eeeek.
The addon that you described is something that I could make use of on a daily basis BUT….I do not want to get into the habit of multiple tool bars creating clutter.
Maybe I will get counseling

Hey Ebony! Seems anyone I help also has multiple toolbars, but occasionally they are reluctant to let some, or even any of them go! Like, they feel they might be missing something. To each their own, but on screens < 14" it starts to look like the active window is only a peephole
OfflineI actually don't mind having to right click for spell check, though at 1st, when I saw that the spell-checker here didn't work, I could not understand what I was doing wrong.
The only down-side to using right click is that the box that appears for spelling, or alternate word suggestions, may partially block the highlighted word in question. Then, if I'm not paying close attention, I will pick words or spellings that I didn't mean to choose, but I failed to see I chose a wrong one at the time. Of course some of the suggestions offered are unintentionally hilarious!
Thank goodness we DO have the EDIT for our posts!

"Thank goodness we DO have the EDIT for our posts!"
I have to agree whole heartedly with you on that. Sometimes when I finish and look back over it, not only is there spelling errors, wrong version of the word, or just plain, uh….what the blue blazes did I just type.

and then, after fix all that, I HAVE TO DO MATH

OfflineTo all those worried about toolbar screen clutter, in FF (3.6) just press key F11 – it will blow everything away to a full screen view of the current page. Press again and your cluttered view is restored. Not perfect, but very convenient.
@ebony : You bin lookin' at my screen..?

That is great to know, one other question. Another concern I have about toolbars, is how easy is it to uninstall. I fear they will be like uninvited relatives, hard to get them to leave.

Re Undo, not sure how that would work for posting because to highlight and click undo is no different than highlighting and hitting the backspace, delete, or space bar.

OfflineEbony. Your post #33 about "toolbars" etc. is somewhat off-topic.
Since Ashraf first ranted on the subject, I have been thinking of starting a new topic thread to explore questions such as yours – so please excuse me if I do not give any more answers under this thread topic. Those already given were a matter of courtesy to assist.
It does, however, now seem evident that a new topic is needed and, unless someone else beats me to it, I will do just that. After finishing a little (lot) homework with the kids.
Please bear with me until then. LOL

Sooooooooo to me a question my question was on FF add-in "FoxLingo", which addressed tool bars and spell checker….. hence the original topic.
None the less, a topic on handling tool bars (IMHO) would be of value.
