Morning Al
"Thank goodness we DO have the EDIT for our posts!"
I have to agree whole heartedly with you on that. Sometimes when I finish and look back over it, not only is there spelling errors, wrong version of the word, or just plain, uh….what the blue blazes did I just type.
and then, after fix all that, I HAVE TO DO MATH
Ebony
Hey again, Ebony.
Nothin' like taking a while to finalize a posting that considerable time was spent on to get it 'right,' (say, more than 5 minutes
), only to lose it all by getting a simple math addition wrong!!
Done it > 1 time
[Maybe, we should get a 2nd chance! ]

Unfortunately, I've been there too. Altho I question whether or not my answer was wrong. But that's a different issue.
I found out your post isn't really lost if you get the message that you entered a wrong answer to the math question.
I can't give exact details because it's been a while since I had to do it. But basically use the back button on your browser, and then start again like you were going to post to that thread for the first time.
When I did that the reply I'd written came back up. All I had to do was answer the math question right.

==================
Seems that at least once………out of the several times that I did mess up the math
I'm almost certain that I had a correct answer!
Then again, ……….even tho I'm pretty certain on that "at least once" deal, it may just be wishful thinkin' on my part.

Maybe the "no math" should be extended to the Old Farts.
Now that's a good idea!

Hey Wheezer. The back button has saved most math error posts, but not always, since I've tried it & lost the original anyway (embarrassing to have to admit to more than 1 math mess-up!
). It seems related to how when you edit a post, the screen flips & you can see coding mixed in with the text, for 1-2 seconds, before restoring the entire previously posted message. Maybe some rare restoring of the message issues.
Or….maybe it's not related at all, & I'm just grasping for some reasoning & making up stuff (what, me do that??) ……….oh well.
OfflineThanks for continuing to work on this Locutus.
Even tho what you were trying didn't work. It looks like it's an outside program or FF addon that would have to be run.
My question is more about finding out why the built in FireFox spell check doesn't work when I'm on dotTech. It works fine on every other site I've been on.
I see others have noticed the same thing and even Ashraf made mention of it somewhere in this thread. So in my mind it's possibly something in the settings for dotTech instead of my computer. Goodness knows, I probably wrong tho…
PS: This Connectify thing is really cool. I'm on dotTech on my new computer and running a "hotspot" with Connectify. My old laptop is connected thru the hotspot and I'm working on the fire department website on that computer. It almost feels like I know what I'm doing on a computer…
OfflineHave induced this "maths" bug many times – even though correct answer was (carefully) entered.
Seems to happen when the
screen briefly shows coding ghosted with the text before restoring the page – and telling me my maths is wrong.
Using the back button does not always work either.
Drafted post/reply also gets lost if you change page of thread (to cross check other posts) and then try and return to editing.
I have now added a plug-in to FF 3.6 which enables recovery from all sorts of "accidents" like this. It is very useful and can be customised to prevent sensitive webpage (bank forms etc.) data being saved for recovery.
Check it out yourselves at http://lazarus.interclue.com.

Well, there goes a perfectly good post of mine. :(
And yeah, the problem is with dotTech.
