I am using vista home premium
I want to change the name on a account
Will the SW that is currently installed for person A also work the same for person B? Or will I have to reinstall all the SW after changing the name to person B?

Yes. Nothing else will change; except the fact that for the SW that uses that option, the owner wil change from A to B.
Example any new office docs that's created will have B as Author instead of A since it considers the account owner by default.

Wow, I think you have saved me again. 
So just to be sure I have this straight,
When person B clicks on start menu, the same programs that person A saw, person B will see also? Did I get that right?
It is no fun being techy challenged, which is what I am.

Yep. The exact same thing. Same programs, settings and so on because you're simply renaming the account, not creating a new one.

Actually, the only thing that changes is your view of the account name. It doesn't even move things into a new folder (that's why my account name is my full name, but the data folder that my user account is in is my first name and Admin).
If that's confusing ignore it.

Yes I understand what you are saying Locutus.
Now for my NEW problem.
I relocated the computer and now it cannot see the cd/dvd drive.
Any trouble shooting suggestions. Oh and while you at it. How do I turn off this bold??
