i want to install W7 in Volume D just to see if its compatable with my system before doing a clean installation. but during installation when i select drive D it says " Windows cannot be installed to this hard disk space. The partition contains one or more dynamic volumes that are not supported for installation ". currently my volumes are:- C:(39 GB), D:(39 GB),E:(48.8 GB),F: (65.8 GB) and H : (40 GB- for back up).all of these are NTFS dynamic.i started disk management. On D after right click i selected remove volume.it formatted and displayed Unallocated 39 GB.again right clicked and the executable option i get is New Simple Volume. How should i convert it to Basic???Right click on Disk 0 (dynamic 232 GB)the option convert to basic is also not enabled.how to proceed???pls advise.??? screen shot is here

It's not possible to change from dynamic to basic using Window's Disk Manager, but you change it using some special partitioning programs like DiskProbe. Otherwise, you will have to delete all your partitions and then convert it to basic.

A MS problem? Why don't you try a Microsoft solution? Grab Virtual PC 2007 an hage a go. Microsoft is also supplying for their server windows a virtual pc with windows 7. Meaning you and me cannot use it but you can build a virtual machine in an external drive with windows 7 and running it on your pc.
