A couple of days ago I lost all sound.  The sound icon now has a red x on it.  A check for audio devices indicated there is no sound card.  All drivers seem to be up to date.  I ran a couple of antivirus programs and nothing showed.  I also ran two anti malware programs and nothing was indicated.

I will appreciate any thoughts on what might have caused the sound loss and how to try to repair.
