You mean the disk that came with my computer right? And what if it just had the same pop up again? (which is what happened) was i supposed to click recovery options on startup?

I get this message when i boot up my windows xp machine. I don't even get to log in to the computer. When i click "ok" the windows doesn't even continue to boot up…..it just stays at the "Welcome" screen?
"One of the files containing the system's registry data had to be
recovered by one of a log or alternate copy. The recovery was
successful."
what do i do!?

If you have the install disks, run a "repair" from those.

btw: this site: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-u…..56856.aspx says you just have to click ok…….but when i do, the computer doesn't continue to start up :(
*also i'v read a lot of other places that say like run disk scan or something to do with editing the registry……i can't do anyof that because my computer wont even log in……

I can also boot in safe mode…… maybe i can run a cmd promt or something… i dont know what to do 
*i'm actually doing a CHKDSK right now, maybe that will help?

check disk probably won't help. If you boot from the original install cd, there should be a recovery/repair option. I would try letting XP repair itself.

If you don't have the original XP install CD (this can be the case from certain manufacturers, they only ship an image of the computer as it was when you first got it, which is entirely useless for repair purposes), you can borrow someone else's as long as it's the same version of XP.
