Hey maxwbrad, not sure if you have gotten it fixed and not positive what could be going on, but if you haven't reinstalled your OS try to give this a shot.

Click on the "Start Menu" and go to "Network"

Click on "Organize" at the upper right corner of the window. A drop down window will pop up. Click on "folder" and "search options".

On the folder option window you will see three tabs at the upper right-hand corner. Click on "view" and SELECT "always show Icons, never thumbnail". Next, DESELECT "display files Icon on thumbnails" as illustrated below.

Click OK and see if that does the job.

Let me know if it helped or if you managed to correct it. Good Luck!

I'm running XP. When that has happened to me in the past, it usually wasn't long before I had to reinstall or do a repair of the operating system from the install disk. I've learned as well to keep backups of My Documents on another drive or partition. That way if I have to completely reinstall the OS, I can then copy and paste everything from the saved My Document folder on the other drive or partition back into the new My Document folder on the newly installed OS. Hopefully you will find a fix short of such drastic measures.

It probably won't make a difference, but I'd do a disk defragmentantion, check the hard drive for errors and then run a registry cleaner to see if that helps.

as I'm still on XP, I'm not quite sure which programs to recommend to do that – hopefully someone will come along soon and correct any bad advice i've given ;-p

(ps: the disk defrag & disk error checking in W7 should be fine, and I do use the registry cleaner that's in CCleaner)

hmmmm …..

http://www.sevenforums.com/tut.....n-use.html

http://windows.microsoft.com/e.....for-errors

and you can get CCleaner from http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

good luck :-)
