Ya know what?  No more Safari 5 for me.  No.  It just won't work.  Every time I try to install an update that's 10.6.2 or above, the computer is hosed.  So, four times now.  No.  I'm staying at 10.6.1.

Here are some steps for a fix:
 

1. Head over to your nearest Apple store.

2. Tell them you would like to buy a brand new 8-core Mac Pro with 32 GB of RAM and a 512 GB solid state HDD.

3. Give them a lot of money.

4. Take your brand new Mac home and set it up.

5. Install Safari 5.

Are you kidding? Those things come with Safari 5 all nicely set up!

Well my Hackintosh is almost back up online--after the failed 10.6.2 update, it kernel panicked on boot, so I had to wipe the drive.  So now, I've:

• Reinstalled
• Fixed up the dock (it has loads of default icons)
• Installed the compatibility packages for it to work right on the 1525.

and now I am:

• Installing iLife '09
• Installing 10.6.1
