I use the free versions of both: Wise disk Cleaner, and Wise Registry Cleaner, and on the first occasion I used them I noticed a significant difference in the performance of my computer, perhaps because I had not used anything similar for some time.

I continue to use them periodically. Every simlilar prog., that I use always finds more garbage, so I use a number of different progs, and this certainly seems to keep my machine working
well.

They recommend using the disk cleaner first followed by the Registry Cleaner.

Chris,

To be honest, registry cleaning does not really have that big of a impact on computer speed as developer want you to believe so you may not see a dramatic speed increase at all. You will see a much more dramatic increase in speed if you uninstall all programs that you don't use.

That being said, Advanced SystemCare is a fairly reliable program - I would clean it all. Although Advanced SystemCare creates backups before making any changes to your registry, be sure to manually create a System Restore point before you do anything.

Hello:
I will follow your recomendations to pass on this one. I have the Advance System Care, but have been reluctant to follow the suggested fixes as it found 1000+ errors. My system is slow compared to when it was new, xp pro 64, 2gb ram. I have installed many giveaway of the day programs and uninstall some over last 1-2 years. How would you suggest to cleanup the registry safely; I use this computer for work?
thanks,
Chris Hegel

Ashraf,
Thank you for once again helping us navigate the useless BS that is getting worse on GOTD. Your reviews have provided anyone willing to read them invaluable insight into the programs offered, clearly stating the Pros and Cons. Frankly I no longer even bother wasting time wading thru all the posts from ungrateful whiners who apparently are "reading-challenged".

Based on your excellent reviews, TuneUp Utilities 2007 (Great prog IMHO) and WinUtilities were added to my arsenal. Glary and CCleaner have been the mainstays for a long time and retained for their own merits, but it never hurts to compare results. I've never once had a single problem using any of these...but then I take the time to actually read the results before simply implementing the default "repair".

Thanks to yet another great review, I've been saved the time necessary to install and uninstall WRC4 which I don't really need. Kudos!

hi asraf
the main problem is not the number of error the s/w find , but its ability to really repair them.. as for example i did install win patrol after i while i unistall the winpatrol s/w with revo.. after using all the registry repair s/w eg win uti. quicksy.. and this new giftaway.. the registry leftover of winpatrol ( and many other software that I remove) the left over are still there..
why the regisrty are still there . eventhough the s/w say it has reapired them..

thank u 4 u answer

Blimey, Ashraf, don't you ever sleep????

Many thanks for today's GOTD review: it's just saved me hours going through GOTD comments such as 'I can't register this' / 'stop complaining, it's FREE!' / 'I have no use for this, when is GOTD going to offer PhotoShop?'

Your comparison test is exceptionally informative (as usual) but as always, the higher the number of "finds", the greater the potential that, one day, those "finds" will harvest some entries that really shouldn't have been included.

Coupla years (or more) back, Crap Cleaner seemed to go on the "maximum find" hunt and as a result of over-aggression, wound up causing problems for many users. Since then it seems to have been de-tuned, as it were, and is all the better for it: I for one have gone back to using it, as I'm sure have many others.

Surely the acid test of all these cleaners though is the extent to which, after use, a computer is running more easily, more quickly, and more dependably. I find I'm happy with mine via routine maintenance from TuneUp Utilities and, occasionally, NTREGOPT, a little gem that has never let me down in many years' usage (but doesn't work with Vista, at least so far as I'm aware.)

Great review and again, well done. No point in me posting on GOTD because I think this is yet *another* commercial software offering that's actually as redundant as the registry entries it exists to delete. GOTD does seem to be rather too often a showcase for this type of stuff, sadly. . .

If you run the "Optimization Wizard" before you start the actual optimization you are told to what specs/scheme WRC will optimize your computer to. Kind of hard to explain in words. Try it yourself if you are curious; it will be under the "Confirm" window.

Not really sure why WRC does that but ya.

Optimization Wizard" wants to optimize my laptop as if it only had 2GB of RAM instead of the full 3GB >.>'.

What do you mean by this?
