Well, when I do something wrong, I tend to do it spectacularly (my colleagues call them my "magnificent failures"). So if you can find time at some point to do such a tute, I for one will be ever grateful.

@Ozzie: Hmm I am sorry but I am not familiar with what happened to you so I can't really say what is what. I do know, however, is that GFI should not overwrite your whole external drive when creating a backup.

Hi Ashraf ... well, I used Paragon once to do a backup and it overwrote everything on my external drive. (And I couldn't get that to restore either .... but that's another tragic tale of my computer incompetence that I will spare you).

@Ozzie: I can't make any promises but I will try. However the "try" will be later and not right now.

@Ozzie: Sorry but you confused me. What exactly do you mean "Will GFI erase those if backed up on to that drive"?

Oh, and one more question (forgive me, but your advice has been missed!). I backup all my folders and docs on to an external hard drive. Will GFI erase those if backed up on to that drive? As in, use the drive solely for its own backup?

Hey there, my guru of all things techie! Ashraf, could you possibly do a step-by-step guide to GFI backup and restore? I tried to use it and thought I had done everything properly, but when I tried to restore after a recent crash, it seems I had botched it. It didn't work. I know it's meant to be simple (but apparently the only thing simple is me), and I did read the help file. But I obviously got confused somewhere along the line. I backup my folders on a regular basis, but that's no real help when the whole system goes down and I have to reinstall everything. There's a day of my life I can't get back. So on behalf of technologically backward people like myself, could you please, please, please, write a tute for it.

Not that I don't want you to enjoy the rest of you summer break or anything .... !

Thanks, Ashraf. I was becoming a little confused with Titan, GFI and EastTec. I think I will keep GFI. Take care.
