About iOS Apps of the Day

iOS has over 600,000 apps. With so many apps out there, app discovery (aka finding new and useful apps) is extremely difficult. With our iOS Apps of the Day initiative, dotTech aims to change that. Everyday we post three apps, allowing our readers to discover new apps, daily. Enjoy! [Subscribe to our iOS section to never miss an article: RSS Feed | E-mail]

Apps for April 20, 2012

Camera Fun Pro

Camera Fun Pro is an app that takes pictures and videos by using certain filters to make your photo look unlike any other photo you have taken. The filters you can use are  Alphabet, Avatar (yes it looks blue just like it does in the movie), Black & White, Blueprint, Bulge, Canvas, Chalk, Chess, Color X-Ray, Emboss, Glass, Mirror, Neon, Night Vision, Oil Brush, Pinch, Pixel, Poster, Sepia (this one looks really nice making the photo look like it is old circa the 19th century), Sketch, Stretch, Swirl, Thermal, Tunnel, Vintage Sketch, Water Color, Wave, and X-Ray.

You can try out this buy downloading the free Camera Fun which has a limited amount of filters, but it gives you the idea of how this intriguing app works.

Joypad Legacy

Joypad Legacy is an app that turns your device into a wireless controller for your games that you can play on the iPad, PC or Mac. In order to play on your PC or Mac, you will need to download the appropriate software at http://getjoypad.com/legacy. After you launch the program on the computer, you can launch it on your device and it will automatically connect. If by some reason it doesn’t connect automatically, you can connect it manually by finding out what the IP address is in the app by clicking the gear which needs to be entered in on the computer.

This comes with preassigned configurations, but for any other game you will need to enter those manually. It worked very well, and you won’t believe how great this app is. You will notice some very bad reviews. There are people complaining about getting charged for some things, but that hasn’t happened since the NES and Sega Genesis gamepads which some are saing that they were charged. There is no solid evidence as of yet. This was tested with the Space Cadet pinball game that is included in Plus 98 and even Wondows XP, and it was very easy to play the game without any difficulty.

At the time of this writing, this app is free, but if for some reason the app isn’t free anymore you can try the lite version for free.  For those that see this, you might want to get this game especially for those of us who have played the actual version in the arcades back in the 1980s.
