Table of Contents

Quick Pros and Cons

The Good

  • Has a nice feature set (you can see network traffic, cpu usage, what processes are running, etc)
  • Combines many Windows tools together into one program.
  • Not too bad on resources.
  • Can defrag RAM.
  • Ability to export data into a TXT file.
  • Program displays how long it has been since your last shutdown/restart.

The Bad

  • Cannot monitor/show computer temperatures.
  • The 'widget' ("monitor") is limited to only CPU/RAM.
  • RAM defrag is kind of iffy (does not really free up much, if any, RAM).

Rating (out of 10)

Ease of Use

Point and click for the most part; however do note some element of computer knowledge is needed to understand the program.
9

Performance

Aside from the RAM defragger, works as intended as far as I can tell.
8

Usefulness

I don't see this kind of program being too terribly useful to too many people.
5

Price

$21.90 USD is fairly reasonable. However taking into consideration excellent freeware alternatives like Rainmeter are available, the developer may want to consider knocking off a few bucks to entice users to purchase.

Quick Verdict

Full Review

SysResources Manager is a program who's primary focus is to monitor different aspects of your computer, including but not limited to CPU, RAM, and bandwidth.

That being said, SysResources Manager is a frequent to GOTD; it has been given out many times before. When it was given out as v10.1, I wrote a full review on it. Today's version is v10.4. Here are the changes as per the developer:

What's new in version 10.4 (Release Date: 1/9/2009):

  • Fixed External IP Address.
  • Minor bugs are fixed.

What's new in version 10.3 (Release Date: 14/6/2009):

  • Minor bugs are fixed.
  • Shows External IP Address on 'Bandwidth Monitor'.

What's new in version 10.2 (Release Date: 1/4/2009):

  • Sorting numeric values.
  • Watch Read/Write disk activity.
  • Minor bugs are fixed.
  • Skin Maker update.
  • Help file update.

The real major difference between v10.1 and v10.4, besides bug fixes, is v10.4 now displays your internet (remote) IP address while v10.1 did not. So feel free to read my full review if you want more info on SysResources Manager.

This review was conducted on a laptop running Windows 7 Professional 32-bit. The specs of the laptop are as follows: 3GB of RAM, a Radeon HD 2600 512MB graphics card, and an Intel T8300 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo processor.

Free Alternatives

Rainmeter

Rainmeter is an excellent resources monitor. It is actually a very old project which has only recently been resurrected.

Samurize

From the developer:

Samurize is an advanced system monitoring and desktop enhancement engine for Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista. IT professionals, overclockers, gamers and desktop modders alike use Samurize for system information, weather reports, news headlines and much much more. And best of all, Samurize is 100% free!

Samurize's rich feature set includes:

• an unrivalled set of built-in meters (Disk utilization, CPU usage, network traffic, system temperatures...)
• ultimate customizing and skinning possibilities with no programming knowledge required
• monitoring your own computer or others over a network
• tiny memory footprint and CPU usage
• the first system monitoring tool with a true WYSIWYG editor
• full extensibility via scripts and plugins with a powerful plugin SDK/API
• minimal software requirements (no .NET or Service Packs necessary)
• multimonitor support
• many usage options (desktop, taskbar and clock clients, server outputting to XML or image formats, screensaver)

Samurize: The Only Limit Is Your Imagination.

CleanMem

CleanMem is the best RAM/memory management/freeing tool you will find.

HWMonitor

A standalone program that monitors your computer temperatures.

Windows Process Manager (thx Lee)

"Right click desktop, create short cut input ‘C:WindowsSystem32perfmon.msc’ without quotes into ‘type the location of this item’, then hit next and name it ‘Performance Monitor’ without quotes and hit finish.

Nice icon appears on your desktop and if you want information then double click it." -Lee

Final Verdict

SysResources Manager is a good tool. Sure it has an ugly GUI/Interface, and many people probably won't find much use for it, but for people who have a need to monitor activity/resource use on their computer, this program is not bad. However, SysResources Manager is good, but my recommendation for today is Rainmeter. Rainmeter is a terrific resources monitors for Windows - highly recommended! (If you are looking for a memory/RAM management tool, get CleanMem - it recovers RAM a lot better than SysResources Manager's RAM defrag.)

    Hi !

I just want to say I fully agree with Ashraf when he says that “CleanMem is the best RAM/memory management/freeing tool you will find.”.

From time to time I have tried many of these RAM/memory optimizers and almost no one seemed to be better than the other and I just could not see any improvement.

Yesterday I have installed CleanMem, about which I knew that Ashraf talked in good about it, and I really saw an improvement.

The soft install himself as a scheduled task which run each 30 minutes if I remember well : I have changed this setting so that it runs every 10 minutes.

With the help of Anvir Task Manager, I know that when CleanMem runs, it runs for about only 3 to 4 seconds, no more. I also see that it almost doesn’t affects the CPU or memory consumption.

I have just made a simple checkout before sending this comment : before the use of CleanMem my memory consumption was of 45% and after it was 36%, which means a 20% improvement.

    Thank you Ashraf ! :-)

Thanks for the great review. I happen to be an avid Rainmeter user already. It’s great for UL/DL activity monitoring in near real time. Keep up the good work.
