Oh and I agree with your point about the editing features of iWisoft – they truly are terrific.

@Ozzie: I think there is one single source that is creating these video converter programs and then selling them to other companies and/or making other companies in different names to sell the same product. Wondershare seems like a likely candidate for the source seeing as they are so large.

@Ann J.: In GOTD’s defense, tens of thousands of people visit GOTD on a daily basis. They really can’t start censoring what people say to protect one person (as long as the “negative” comments are within reason in the sense that they don’t involve cuss words, etc.). If some people (third parties… no one in the GOTD team I can assure you) are out to get me, let them try. They clearly are not succeeding.

Yup: I too have experienced problems with Vista when using SUPER. (Though nothing like the problems I originally had in trying to navigate SUPER’s well-nigh impenetrable website. But perhaps it’s improved.)

SUPER’s errors were occasional and unique and therefore, unpredictable. I gave up.

FormatFactory has been a golden acquisition, thanks entirely to your recommendation. But then, so, too, has been iWisoft’s: the one does what the other can’t do as well, and vice versa.

(In particular, video trimming: iWisoft’s time-line editing is exactly the same as FormatFactory’s, but on a good day, FF’s works, then on a bad day, doesn’t. No reason I can fathom why. By contrast, iWisoft edits precisely as intended.)

So although FF can be the faster performer in like-for-like tests, it’s actually the case that the invariably slower iWisoft is quicker: I only have to do once with that app what I waste needless time, repeatedly trying to achieve with FF.

As to today’s GOTD. Er, well, but. . .

Having a car that travels only in a straight line ain’t, to be honest, a lot of good.

Me, I like one that can also go around corners.
