Google wants iOS and Android gamers to be able to play together

iphone androidPart of Google’s plan to get more into the gaming world involves allowing iOS players to connect to Android games that are cross-platform.

Google has released this news as part of  a flurry of announcements at the Game Developers Conference, which is taking place in San Francisco.

“Further enhancing Google Play Game services, we’re expanding multiplayer to support iOS, bringing turn-based and real-time multiplayer capabilities to both Android and iOS,” it said on the Android Blog.

“To further help with cross platform game development, we’re updating our Play Games Unity Plug-in to support cross-platform multiplayer services,” the blog post also said,” and introducing an early Play Games C++ SDK to support achievements and leaderboards.”

Now if only Sony and Microsoft would allow cross-platform play on their respective systems.
