How to root Samsung Galaxy A5 SM-A500H in Android 4.4.4 [Guide]

a5-2 [1]The Sammy A5 is a new smartphone running Android 4.4.4 Kitkat out of the box. There’s no Android 5.0 Lollipop in sight which makes this still the ideal time to flash a custom ROM. You might find third-party developers making unofficial custom ROMs which let you update the handset and try out features of upcoming real Android software updates.

The following guide is only for the SM-A500H variant of the Galaxy A5 smartphones. We do not advise you try installing the file on any other device. We know for a fact Chainfire–the third-part developers responsible for the rooting tool–has made a unique file for each model numbered device. Verify what model yours is by observing the Settings > About Device > Model Number.

  1. Download the SM-A500H rooting file form this link [2].
  2. Download the Odin 3.09 from this link [3].
  3. use the desktop of the PC to extract the files.
  4. Boot the A5 up in Download Mode.
  5. press the Volume Down + Power + Home buttons on the A5 smartphone to enter the special mode.
  6. Now connect to the computer using the USB cable.
  7. Click the AP button
  8. Load the tar.md5 file from the extracted folder on the desktop.
  9. Click the start button.
  10. Wait until the pass message appears on the screen of Odin.
  11. If you see the fail message you want to try downloading the official USB drivers for mobile phones once more.
  12. That’s all you have to do for opening up the devices hardware away from the locked restrictions Samsung have in place. Now you can hit up the Google Play store and check out other applications you couldn’t download and install before.
