How to root Sony Xperia Z2 on 5.0.2 Lollipop [Guide]

Xperia Lollipop [1]The Sony Xperia Z2 has been out for a long time now, but there’s a new software version in town — Android 5.0.2 Lollipop — that didn’t have a root method available until of late. Now we have a new bunch of goodies to flash on your device that will open your internal hardware with root access without having to downgrade to Kitkat for once. here’s how it’s done:

REQUIREMENTS

BEFORE WE BEGIN 

HOW TO ROOT SONY XPERIA Z2 RUNNING ANDROID 5.0.2 LOLLIPOP

  1. Download the rooting tool required from here [3].
  2. Extract the XperiaRoot package to the desktop of your computer.
  3. You should find the BusyBox, SuperSU and the Root package inside.
  4. Install the Root.apk file on the Xperia Z2.
  5. Tap the “root” button and wist for it to finish rooting your device.
  6. Install the BusyBox APK file the same way you did the root APK.
  7. Transfer the SuperSU to the internal SD card.
  8. Open the Recovery app and tap the “Install recovery” for the custom recovery to install on your device.
  9. Completely power off your device.
  10. Boot it up in the recovery mode by pressing and holding the Power until the LED light flashes and then press the Volume Up or Volume Down button several times.
  11. In recovery mode, choose the “Install’ option from the recovery menu and upload the SuperSU from the internal SD card.
  12. Go back to the main recovery menu and select the “reboot system” option to boot back to normal mode and use your device.

That’s all you need. Now you are ready to flash a custom ROM!
