REQUIREMENTS

BEFORE WE BEGIN

HOW TO ROOT THE ONEPLUS 2 RUNNING ANDROID 5.1 LOLLIPOP

  1. If you have just come here from the TWRP guide, unplug from the computer and reboot the device to normal mode.
  2. Download the SuperSU file from here [3].
    – download the Super to the computer and not the smartphone.
  3. Connect the OnePlus 2 handset to the same computer where you have the SuperSU file and transfer it to the root of the SD card. What’s that mean? Just make sure you do not hide it in any sub folder or you won’t find it later.
  4. Reboot the OnePlus 2 into the recovery mode.
  5. Select “Install” from the recovery main menu and browse for the SuperSU package you transferred earlier.
  6. Flash the SuperSu zip file and navigate back to the main recovery menu.
  7. Choose to reboot the system now from the recovery menu.

Now you should have the custom recovery installed for flashing custom ROMs and taking NANDroid backups and root access so you can install those root-only apps from Google Play. Enjoy!
