Samsung Galaxy S6 [1]Being able to Root Samsung Galaxy S6 on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop has come with its challenges to date. We have seen a few methods available for specific model numbers, but no tool to really be anywhere near a universal S6 tool. The latest Unikernel will root Samsung Galaxy S6 on Android 5.1.1 for 7 unique model numbers.

  1. Download the Unikernel from this link [3].
  2. Download Odin from this link [4].
  3. Extract the Unikernel to the desktop of the computer. To do that, right-click over the file and select the ‘extract here’ option.
  4. Do the same thing you did with the Unikernel to the Odin file. Only this time run the Odin tool after you have finished extracting it.
  5. Completely power off the Samsung Galaxy S6. Do that by holding down the Power button for some seconds until you are sure it is off. Otherwise, you can short-press the Power button and then select the ‘Switch Off’ option from the display.
  6. Reboot the Samsung Galaxy S6 in download mode [5].
  7. Connect the Sammy S6 to the computer by using the USB cable.
  8. The ID: COM port in Odin should change color, letting you know that the device did connect. If you do not notice any color change signifying that your device is connected with Odin, you might need to download the USB drivers. If you already did download the drivers, try a reboot of the Windows PC and see if that helps.
  9. Click the PDA or AP button, depending on what version of Odin you are running, and browse the desktop for the extracted Unikernel you prepared earlier.
  10. Check that the Auto Reboot and F Reset Time options are on.
  11. Check the Re-partition option is left empty. You don’t want to be re-partitioning your drive.
  12. Click the Start button once you are satisfied those three options above are set correctly.
  13. Soon you will get a pass message and the Samsung Galaxy S6 will automatically reboot since you had the ‘Auto reboot’ box marked.
  14. Once that happens, you may disconnect from the computer and remove the USB cable.

Now that you have root access on the S6 smartphone, you might want to install some of those apps from the Google Play Store that you couldn’t use before. A free WiFi hotspot is always a popular choice to begin.
