[iOS] Spire: Legally install Siri on all (jailbroken) iOS 5 devices

Are you jelly iPhone 4S owners can have semi-dumb conversations with their devices and you can’t? Since Siri debuted on iPhone 4S it has been ported left and right to other iDevices so if you are that excited about it you may already have Siri on a non-iPhone 4s iDevice. However, if you don’t have Siri yet then you may want to give Spire a try.

Spire is a new installer to get Siri installed on all jailbroken non-iPhone 4S iDevices with iOS 5. What makes Spire different than other methods is

  • It is a lot easier to use. You grab Spire from Cydia and it does most of the work for you. (All you have to do is setup a proxy server.)
  • It allows users to “legally” install Siri because of a new method to obtain the files necessary for Siri.
  • It avoids privacy issues of directing all traffic to a specific proxy by allowing users to setup their own proxy server.

I don’t own an iDevice so I cannot provide explicit directions on how to use Spire to install Siri. However, I can tell you this much: You must have a jailbroken iOS 5 device; you must have Cydia installed; and you need to setup a proxy server with data from an iPhone 4S because of the way Apple authenticates traffic to Siri’s server; the rest you must learn yourself by doing a little reading. I recommend hitting up the Spire homepage link below to get started.
