Finding good audio editing software can be hard. I mean, there are a lot of them out there, but they don’t always do what you want them to. This goes double if you are trying to use a free version. Although My Audio Cutter is not free, it looks to be a promising audio cutter. So is it? Let’s get to the review and find out!
WHAT IS IT AND WHAT DOES IT DO
My Audio Cutter is a program used to cut your audio files into pieces. This can be great for a number of reasons. You can use it to take blank time off the end of a song, pick out a piece of a song you want to use as a ringtone, and more. The program supports many popular music files, including WMA, FLAC, MP3, and more.
- Cut audio files into the pieces you want — supports: MP3, MP2, WAV, WMA, OGG, FLAC, AIFF, M4A, AAC, AC3, and WV.
- Can extract audio from video formats: MP4, WMV, and ASF
- Extremely easy-to-understand user interface
- Program allows you to define in visual or manual mode the start and end time of the cut
- Preview the selected segment of your song before cutting for better accuracy
- Offers fade-in and fade-out effects
- Also supports audio tagging, so it will preserve the audio tag information on the input file to the output file
- $19 is a little on the high side for an audio cutter
- I wish it supported more video formats to extract audio from
My Audio Cutter looked pretty promising when I started it up. This had a lot to do with the easy-to-understand interface. Typically, I find audio cutters to look very complex. This can be a turnoff for someone who does not use them often (like me). My Audio Cutter did not have a completed interface, so now the question is: Can it do its job?
I was actually impressed with all of the things that My Audio Cutter can do. It allows you to cut music files of the following formats: MP3, MP2, WAV, WMA, OGG, FLAC, AIFF, M4A, AAC, AC3, and WV. You can even use the program to extract audio from videos, but only in MP4, WMV, and ASF formats. That was my biggest letdown with the program. I had hoped that it would support more video formats. However, it is still neat that they included it at all.
Another cool feature that the program offers is fade-in and fade-out. This allows your cuts to sound smoother when listening to them. This is perfect for people who are going to be using these audios as a ringtone or put them on a CD for playback. When cutting music, you don’t want it to sound like it was cut. You want it to flow naturally, and that is just what My Audio Cutter does.
The program does support tag information. So, let’s say that you have tags on the music file you want to cut. It will take those tags from the input file and transcribe them over to the output file. This is helpful because now you do not have to go back and reenter all of your tags, saving you time. Although I don’t use a lot of tags on my music, I know there are people out there who do, so this is a very important feature for them.
The last thing that I want to note is the price, which is $19. There are a lot of free audio cutters out there. Although not all of them are as nice as My Audio Cutter, there are going to be some people who would prefer not to spend $19 on a program that they can find for free elsewhere…regardless of how nice it is.
CONCLUSION AND DOWNLOAD LINK
In short, My Audio Cutter is not a bad program. In fact, I enjoyed using it. The price may be on the high side for some, but if you are willing to pay for an audio cutter, this is a pretty good choice. With the ability to, not only clip music, but extract music from video, My Audio Cutter becomes a very handy tool. If you want to try it out, they offer a demo version on the program’s official website for you to try before you buy.
For those of you looking for freeware programs to cut audio files, Free Studio contains a ‘Free Audio Dub’ module that allows you to cut audio files. Slice Audio File Spliter is another option but it only supports MP3, WAV, OGG, and FLAV. mp3DirectCut is yet another option, but for MP3s.
