HTC has published a “A Brief History of Photography” on its official blog, and entries for 2012 and 2013 are particularly interesting. For 2012, the company says that the “Megapixel Wars Escalate” with Nokia releasing the 808 PureView with 41 megapixels. Of course, they don’t forget to mention that a reviewer said it “won’t help you at all.”
With that little jab out of the way, the company then teases that they will kick off “a new sound and camera experience in 2013.” What this means exactly? It’s anybody’s guess at the moment. Some rumors say that a new HTC phone will be able to take pictures while shooting video.
But is that worth teasing about, and more importantly, worth being called a new camera experience? Engadget speculates that the company’s relationship with Beats might have something to do with the sound experience, and I have to agree. But what could they possibly do with sound on a phone now? And will these new features be part of the upcoming M7 flagship phone? So many questions.
We might not have to wait very long, however, as HTC has scheduled a pre-MWC event that will most likely reveal all the answers. Just a couple of more weeks!
