Apple’s senior vice president of world-wide marketing, Phil Schiller, made some pretty forward comments in an interview with the Wall Street Journal that won’t sit well with Android fans:

Mr. Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of world-wide marketing, also said that Android users are often running old operating systems and that the fragmentation in the Android world was “plain and simple.”

He added that “Android is often given a free replacement for a feature phone and the experience isn’t as good as an iPhone.”

He also goes on to add that they don’t work seamlessly together because  “when you take an Android device out of the box, you have to sign up to nine accounts with different vendors to get the experience iOS comes with.” He of course goes on to compare this situation to that of the iPhone wherein Apple makes both the software and hardware.

Interestingly, these comments come just right before Samsung is about to announce their next flagship phone, the Galaxy S 4 [2]. Gartner analyst, Van Baker says that “There’s going to be an incredible amount of pressure on Apple once the Galaxy S 4 is out.” No kidding, Mr. Analyst guy.

Is Apple worried? Phil Schiller sounds like he is. Maybe they should just keep quiet and focus on making the next iPhone as competitive as it can be? I don’t know, just a thought, really.
