Android has over 450,000 apps. With so many apps out there, app discovery (aka finding new and useful apps) is extremely difficult. With our Android Apps of the Day initiative, dotTech aims to change that. Everyday we post three apps, allowing our readers to discover new apps, daily. Enjoy! Want to know exactly when your online purchases have been shipped? Slice is the tool for the job, automatically finding your purchases present and past and tracking them as they arrive. It works by integrating with your email account, which is something you may wish to be wary of, but since it uses OAuth technology it’s easy to revoke access.
Slice begins by searching through your email. Don’t worry, it doesn’t snoop, it’s just looking for Amazon notifications, FedEx notifications, and every other shipping notification you have. It found my Touchpad accessory purchases, my USB OTG cable purchase, and lots of various Amazon and Google Play digital downloads. It lets you link Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL, iCloud, and a variety of internet provider emails, so you’re able to use it when and wherever, no matter what your email address is.
All around, Slice is a nice tool for anyone who makes lots of purchases from Amazon, Google, and other online stores.

Looking for a flashy launcher replacement for your device? Nemus to the rescue: this themeable launcher is both quick and customizable. Their website even includes downloadable, customizable themes, so if you’re interested in creating your own, that’s possible too.
Nemus comes with all the features you’d expect from a launcher: anywhere from 1 to 9 workspaces, folders, widgets, and the whole nine yards. It also features some more unusual features, such as resizable widgets and badges for missed calls and text messages. It also lets you do some quite smart things, such as scrolling the dock bar. This allows you to add more icons than you can on other, non-scrollable launchers, and along with the ability to change the grid size, allows you to fit lots of apps onto one screen.
Nemus is a nice launcher, and although it clashes a little bit with the default Android 4.0 theme, that’s easily changable by simply using a theme.

Want a launcher that allows quick access to RSS feeds, Facebook, Amazon Apps and Video, contacts, and favorite apps? Claystone is just that launcher. It calls itself a “tandem” launcher: you set it as the default launcher, and when you hit the home button while inside of it, it opens a secondary launcher. Claystone’s not really meant to be your primary launcher: it’s simply a quick-access launcher for your most common needs.
Claystone’s certainly a unique idea. I’ve never seen a launcher before that allows you to open another launcher by hitting the home button. It’s quite well executed: if you need access to your app drawer, just hit home. If you’re looking for a favorite app, a contact, news, or most other things, no need: they’re right there, in a quick and smooth interface.
If you’re looking for launchers, Claystone is certainly an interesting one.

dotTechies: We have tested all the apps listed above. However, Android Apps of the Day articles are not intended as “reviews” but rather as “heads-up” to help you discover new apps. Always use your best judgement when downloading apps, such as trying trial/free versions before purchasing paid apps, if applicable
