Modify file extension associations with File Type Editor [Windows]
Posted By Locutus On August 29, 2012 @ 12:02 AM In Windows | 3 Comments
Windows Vista removed the feature to extensively customize file type associations. Now, you can only use Windows’ very basic association editor. Gunners File Type Editor seeks to fix that by bringing extensive support for filetype control back to Windows Vista and 7.
File Type Editor allows you to edit existing extensions, or add new extensions to your database. You can add and edit descriptions, icons, default program, and pretty much anything there is to do with filetypes. There’s a massive page of flags that you can check or uncheck to perform various miscellaneous tasks.
Gunners File Type Editor is an incredibly comprehensive file extension editor. It’s entirely portable, too, so you can keep it on any random thumb drive you want. It’s perfect for editing corrupted or broken file associations on pretty much any computer.
