About Windows Software of the Day
Windows has hundreds of thousands of programs. Because of this great volume and lack of a central store, software discovery (aka finding new and useful programs) is extremely difficult. With our Windows Software of the Day initiative, dotTech aims to change that. Everyday we post three programs, allowing our readers to discover new software, daily. Enjoy! Software for August 4, 2012
rSpeakers
There’s something magical about the future. What is it? I can access the entire history of the world, and all of the the knowledge gained from it, with a few taps of my fingers. All of this stuff is without visible, tangible connections to wires: the wireless internet. However, one thing that could easily become wireless that hasn’t yet been popularized? Headphones. What if you want to start your music on your computer, and then walk away? rSpeakers solves this problem.
With rSpeakers, you just start the server, start the Android app, and connect. You’ll instantly start streaming your computer’s audio to your phone. It’s that simple! On your phone, you can choose your datastream frequency and type, allowing you to stream audio in whatever quality you want. Keep in mind that the two highest frequencies require an in-app purchase, and that the more data you send the further off your phone’s audio will be.
While rSpeakers wouldn’t work for anyone trying to, say, watch a YouTube video, it’s great if you want to start a music playlist from your computer and walk around with your headphones on.

Shapeshifter
The Windows clipboard manager is terrible. It has no history function whatsoever, and you have no way of viewing what’s on the clipboard without pasting it. Shapeshifter brings both of those two things, with a simple and easy to use interface.
To pull up your clipboard history, just press and hold Ctrl+V. You can then select an item with your mouse, or the arrow keys. When you’ve selected, just release Ctrl+V, and your item will be pasted. It’s that simple!
Shapeshifter is a free, beta app, and it certainly shows. The settings menu is literally non-existent, and I had some issues getting the window to go away. However, it’s a very nice clipboard manager, even as it is now, and is worth a try for those who like to try out software.

Time Zone Master
If I gave you five seconds to find the time in some obscure country in the world, how would you spend it? I’d spend it creating a new Time Zone Master clock. This app lets you add as many clocks as you could possibly want to your desktop, allowing you to see the time across the globe.
Time Zone Master isn’t the most beautiful program. As you can see to the right, the clocks have jagged edges and awkward gradients, and it doesn’t deal well without Aero glass enabled. However, it’s still great at giving local time amywhere in the world. It also lets you see what time it would be in a given place at a given time using its built-in Explore menu.
Overall, Time Zone Master is nice, but fairly useless. There are webapps that are much better than Time Zone Master and don’t suck up system resources sitting in the background. However, if you insist on having an installable time zone calculator, TZM is one choice for you.
