This might just be what Apple’s long-rumored budget iPhone will look like [Rumor]

Rumors and even “leaks” of a cheaper, plastic iPhone have been going around for as long as I can remember now, but this might be the most believable one yet.

Japanese magazine Weekly ASCII has posted images of the rear shell for the supposed plastic iPhone, which resembles Apple’s iPhone 5 in terms of layout and design. The most obvious difference apart from being colored yellow and made of plastic is that the designs appear to be simplified versions of the iPhone 5. In the image below, you’ll see slots for the volume buttons and mute switch which I’m guessing will be most likely (surprise) made out of plastic as well:

According to MacRumors, the screw holes shown in the leak are consistent with those of the rumored 5S, which means that the two phones may share similar logic board designs:

As always, there is currently no way of confirming that these are 100 percent legitimate. But it appears to be the most consistent with other leaks and rumors of the budget iPhone, so I’d say there’s a pretty good chance we’ll see something similar when Apple makes their announcement later in the fall. Now, if we could only get some nicer-looking colors…
