How to change text and background colors on websites in Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera, Maxthon, and more [Guide]

I am sure that many of you have come across webpages with black backgrounds and colorful texts that were hard to read (like this one)! You probably wished you could have changed both the backgrounds and the texts on said pages so that it would be comfortable for your reading. This guide shows you exactly how to do that on various different browsers. Follow the instructions below to accomplish it in different browsers.

Internet Explorer

Go to Tools > Internet Options, and then to General tab, and click Colors. In the box that appears, uncheck Use Windows colors, set Text as black and Background as white, and click OK. Now, click Accessibility. In the box that appears, check Ignore colors specified on webpages, and click OK. Finally, click OK. To reset, you need to uncheck Ignore colors specified on webpages.

Firefox

Go to Firefox > Options, and then to Content tab, and click Colors... In the box that appears, set Text as black and Background as white, uncheck Allow pages to choose their own colors, instead of my selections above, click OK and click OK again. To reset, you need to check Allow pages to choose their own colors, instead of my selections above.

Opera

Go to Opera > Page > Style > User Mode. To reset, select Author Mode.

SeaMonkey

Go to Edit > Preferences… Select Colors from Appearance tree. Set Text as black and Background as white, and select Use my chosen colors, ignoring the colors and background image specified, and click OK. To reset, select Always use the colors and background specified by the webpage.

GreenBrowser

Tor Browser

Go to Tools > Options, and then to Content tab, and click Colors... In the box that appears, set Text as black and Background as white, uncheck Allow pages to choose their own colors, instead of my selections above, click OK and click OK again. To reset, you need to check Allow pages to choose their own colors, instead of my selections above.

Maxthon

Click Customized Quick Tools (tiny down arrow at the top right corner of the window), and then hover the cursor on the right arrow right to Night Mode, and then click Custom Config…Set Text as black (#000000) and Background as white (#FFFFFF), click Preview and click Save. To reset, Switch to NightMode (located on top of the option Custom Config…).

Concluding note

For your information, all of the browsers above except for Internet Explorer are available as portable Windows software and all the browsers are free to use.

I could not figure out how to change text and background colors on Google Chrome, Chromium, SRWare Iron, Safari, QupZilla, and QtWeb (all are freeware and available as portable Windows apps except for Safari). If you find how to do it on those browers, feel free to share in the comment section.
