After numerous leaks, Google has the made the Nexus 5 official. The device was designed by Google, manufactured by LG, and comes installed with Android 4.4.

Google is making a pretty big deal about the Nexus 5’s picture-taking capabilities. In fact, the introduction video of the Nexus 5 above is all about the device as a camera, which is understandable, since the camera on the Nexus 4 was widely considered to be that device’s weakness. On the Nexus 5, Google is aiming to remedy that by giving it a new lens designed to improve shots in low-light, as well as optical image stabilization. Software will also play a part in improving the camera experience through the new HDR+ mode, which takes multiple photos and combines them for the highest quality.

The Nexus 5 has a 5-inch, Full HD display, but the best part about it might not be the display itself. The bezel on the sides of the display are extremely thin, which will make the device easier to hold and use despite its large display. Strangely, the Nexus 5 is even slightly lighter than the smaller Nexus 4.

As with all Nexus devices, the Nexus 5 will come running the latest version of Android, 4.4 KitKat. You can read more on the new features and improvements that KitKat brings here.

Perhaps the most attractive detail of the Nexus 5 comes with its price. Despite featuring LTE (which the Nexus 4 famously lacked), super-fact Snapdragon 800 processor, full HD screen, and other high-end specs, Google’s latest goes on sale today for just $349 (unlocked, no contract) for the 16GB variant ($399 for the 32GB model). With a pure Google experience and the guarantee of the fastest updates, combined with the solid hardware of the device, this might be the best deal in the Android smartphone market today — if you can grab one, that is.

The Google Play Store says that they are currently out of inventory, but check back often. It’s also coming to major carriers in the US, with the exception of Verizon.
