How to root Galaxy A5 A500F in XXU1ANL1 Android 4.4.4 [Guide]

Samsung Galaxy A5The Samsung Galaxy A5 is the most people smartphone out of the new series and as such many people are sourcing rooting guides. If you are running the latest version of Android 4.4.4 KitKat with the firmware number XXU1ANL1, you can follow the guide below for an easy way to unlock the internal system away from the default factory restrictions in place by the device manufacturer.

REQUIREMENTS 

  • You should have the smartphone up to date and running the latest XXU1ANL1 firmware. Check that by turning on the phone and looking at the build number from the About Device menu.
  • Do not try installing this file below if you are running any other firmware version. Most likely in the near future you will have the Android 5.0 Lollipop available. Sort after a fresh guide when that happens so you don’t risk soft bricking the handset.

BEFORE WE BEGIN 

  • Turn on the smartphone and press the Settings > About Device and tap on the build number seven times to unlock the Developer Options menu.
  • Go back into the Settings and tap on the Developer Options menu, followed by checking the box for enabling the USB Debugging mode.
  • Download the Samsung USB Drivers for the mobile phones from our page here.
  • Make sure you backup the pictures, music, videos, phone contacts and other data by using the built-in backup functionality, or by installing Samsung Kies on your computer. You can also get the up to date USB drivers from Kies if you choose that option.
  • Disable Samsung Kies before starting the guide so it doesn’t interfere with our tool.

HOW TO ROOT THE SAMSUNG GALAXY A5 A500F RUNNING ANDROID 4.4.4 KITKAT XXU1ANL1 FIRMWARE

  1. Download the Odin 3.09 here.
  2. Download the CF Auto Rooting application you need from here.
  3. use the desktop to extract both the folders.
  4. Run the Odin 3.09 application so it’s working and waiting for us in a minute.
  5. Boot the A5 smartphone in Download Mode.
  6. Plug the A5 into the computer with the USB cable.
  7. Wait for the ID: COM port to change color. If it doesn’t happen, you want to check for the USB drivers once again.
  8. Leave the default settings as they are. Do not check the re-partition box.
  9. Click the AP button and upload the tar.md5 executable file.
  10. Click the start button for the flashing.

The phone will reboot by itself when it’s done in a few minutes. Do not touch any buttons in the mean time. if things don’t work out you’ll know because Odin will present a ‘fail’ message on the screen. try installing the drivers from another source if that happens more than once.
