How to install Motorola Moto E 3G 2015 TWRP Recovery [Guide]

Motorola Moto E [1]The Motorola Moto E is the baby smartphone in the “Hello Moto” company’s Moto range now, and as such, it is still with 3G speed. However, users can still open up the system internals away from the Motorola factory restrictions with root access to start overclocking and tweaking for better performance. To do that you’ll want a custom recovery image installed. Today I’ll show you how to make that TWRP recovery installed on your Motorola Moto E 2015. here’s how:

  1. Boot the Moto E to Fastboot mode.
  2. Completely power down the smartphone by holding down the Power key for over five seconds before releasing.
  3. Now boot it up again by holding down the Volume Down + Power keys to enter the Fastboot mode.
  4. Find the USB cable that works with the Moto E and connect it to the computer.
    – you might wish to update the Motorola USB Drivers [3] if you are having difficulties.
  5. Download the TWRP recovery file [4] you need to the desktop of the Windows PC.
  6. Unzip the TWRP recovery file.
  7. Open the folder of TWRP recovery and right-click the mouse while holding the SHift key. now choose the “Open command window here” option from the menu that presents itself.
  8. Copy this command and press enter: “fastboot flash recovery twrp-otus-2.8.6-test3.img”
  9. Wait for that to finish loading and type your second command and hit enter: “fastboot reboot”

Great! You now have that custom recovery installed. You might want to boot your Moto E in that recovery mode now and take a NANDroid backup of your system.

Alternatively, if you ever want to return back to the stock recovery you can open the command window again and type: “fastboot flash recovery stock-recovery-otus.img”
