  • Check your Galaxy J7 smartphone does have the Developer Options menu unlocked. You can head to the Menu > Settings and you should see Developer Options from that menu if it is unlocked. Those without the Developer Options currently unlocked can head to the Menu > Settings > About Device > tap the build number 7 or 8 times until it says it is now unlocked.
  • Now that all of you have the Developer Options menu unlocked, you can go to the menu > Settings > Developer Options and enable the USB Debugging Mode.
  • It’s a great idea to backup the device before starting. Following the guide for rooting the J7 doesn’t wipe the data automatically since we are not applying any kind of factory reset. However, should something go wrong and you want to apply a hard reset, you will wipe the data and device clean at that time. By backing up now you are preparing your device for the worst case scenario of something going wrong. So long as you have backed up the device, you can restore that same data later.
