How to root Asus Padfone 2 on Android 4.4 KitKat [Guide]

Asus-Padfone-2 [1]There are many great reasons why one would want to root Asus Padfone 2 devices. One of the reasons we recommend is to install the Titanium Backup application. Once your Asus Padfone 2 is rooted, you can head directly to the Google Play Store and start installing the apps you couldn’t install before.

We all know how annoying backing up all data can be since the only solution to get that job done without root access is by adb commands. Once you have rooted your device, though, you can install the Titanium Backup app. It’s the closest thing to a complete backup experience you can get unless you install a custom recovery.

REQUIREMENTS

BEFORE WE BEGIN

HOW TO ROOT ASUS PADFONE 2

  1. Download the Framaroot app from its original home at XDA Developers you can find from this link [2] and transfer it over to the desktop.
  2. Do not unzip or extract the file.
  3. Connect your Asus Padfone 2 to the computer with the USB cable.
  4. Transfer the Framaroot APK file over to the root of the Padfone SD card.
  5. Unplug your device from the computer once you know the exploit is on your SD card.
  6. Install the APK file on your device just like you would with any other APK. You’ll need a file manager app for that.
  7. After you have installed the Framaroot APK on your device, tap and open it from the app drawer.
  8. Select the Gandalf exploit option from your app.
  9. Wait until that Gandalf exploit is done rooting your device.
  10. Exit the Framaroot app and reboot your device manually.
  11. Now that you have rebooted and rooted your device, you can start installing the apps that require root access on the Google Play Store.
  12. Note that now your device has root access, be extra careful with what you click. You do not want to click a fake and malicious app. Check the comments, ratings and number of downloads and only install apps you know the name of from researching beforehand. Now you will stay malware free and have a great rooting experience.

Feel free to donate to the original developer who made this all possible by installing the Framaroot donation application [3] from the Google Play Store.
