[1]There are plenty of great rooted apps out there available to install on your Samsung Galaxy Chat like the InstaWiFi app we mentioned during the rooting guide, or the Loggy app by Koush, which lets you view logs to find out why your system might be crashing. While those apps are useful, sometimes people want to remember what it was like living with a stock ROM the way Google and Samsung intended it to be when you opened it out of the box. For all those times, we can follow a guide like the how to unroot Samsung Galaxy Chat post and return our devices back to the stock ROM.
REQUIREMENTS
- You must have the Samsung Galaxy Chat GT-B5330 rooted before there is any point following this guide.
BEFORE WE BEGIN
- Download the Samsung USB Drivers from our USB driver page [2]. You want that same driver installed directly on your computer.
- You must have the developer options unlocked and the USB Debugging Mode enabled. You can find the USB Debugging option available from within the Developer Options menu from the Settings.
- You must have a Windows PC to use this guide. The Odin app won’t work on the computer unless it is a Windows operating system.
HOW TO UNROOT SAMSUNG GALAXY CHAT GT-B5330
- Download the Stock ROM for your Galaxy Chat from this link [3].
- Download the latest Odin flashing tool from this link [4].
- Once you have the two files on the desktop, right-click and select the “extract here” option.
- Double-click over the executable Odin file and the Odin app will open on your computer.
- Turn off the Samsung Galaxy Chat and reboot it in down load mode (Home + Power + Volume Down).
- Connect the Samsung Galaxy Chat to the computer using the USB cable.
- Wait until you see the “added!’ message before going any further. You need to see Odin telling you the device is added for you to know that the Samsung drivers are working.
- Click the AP button or the PDA button from the Odin app user-interface and browse the desktop for the executable stock ROM file that is going to unroot your device.
- Leave the default settings the same way they were when you first opened the Odin flashing tool for the first time.
- Click the Start button to flash that Stock ROM on your Samsung Galaxy Chat device and wait until you get the pass message.
Once you get the pass message from the Odin user-interface, reboot your Samsung Galaxy Chat device and you’re done. The handset is now officially unrooted and you can no longer install your rooted apps. Likewise, you will not find the SuperSU app available from your app drawer any longer.
Even though you have just unrooted the Sammy handset, you can still learn how to install a custom recovery on the Samsung Galaxy Chat [5] and use the custom recovery without having root access. That means you won’t get to use the apps like the InstaWifi app, but you can still flash your ROMs or even take the NANDroid backups.
