REQUIREMENTS

• Follow these steps to root the Samsung Galaxy S4 C-Spire variant only. You know it’s the C-Spire version if you have the model number SCH-R970X. You can check that by tapping the Menu > Settings > About Device > Model Number.

BEFORE WE BEGIN

• Download the Samsung USB Drivers for the C-Spire S4 from our USB Drivers page. You want to install the USB Drivers directly on the computer before starting the guide.
• You can only follow this guide to root the C-Spire variant of the S4 on a Windows PC. We are using the Odin flash tool and the tool only works with the Windows operating system.
• You need the USB Debugging Mode enabled. You can enable the same by tapping on the Menu > Settings > About Device and then tapping over where it says the build number. Keep tapping at least 7 times and it will eventually let you know that you are using the device as a developer.
• Now come back to the homescreen and tap Menu > Settings > Developer Options and enter the same. Once you are in the Dev Options menu, look for the USB Debugging Mode option and tap over the box so it turns on. Now leave the Developer Options menu and it will remember your preferences of having the USB Debugging Mode turned on.

HOW TO ROOT SAMSUNG GALAXY S4 C-SPIRE SCH-R970X ON ANDROID 5.0.1 LOLLIPOP

1. Download the Odin and root exploit for the C-Spire S4 smartphone from this link.
2. Right-click over the file and extract it on the desktop of the computer.
3. Double-click and run the Odin executable.
4. Turn off the Samsung Galaxy S4 and reboot it up in the download mode you need for the flashing.
5. Connect the C-Spire S4 to the computer with the USB cable.
6. Click the PDA button found on the Odin user-interface.
7. Upload your rooting exploit from within the package you extracted on the desktop.
8. Click the Start button.
9. Wait for the pass message and for the C-Spire S4 to eventually reboot.
10. Close down the Odin app, unplug your S4 from the computer and start installing your new apps that require toot access to work.
