How to root Samsung Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7105T on Android 4.1.1 [Guide]

Samsung Galaxy Note 2These are the guidelines to root Samsung Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7105T running on the Android 4.1.1 Lollipop software update using the Odin flashing tool and the CF-Auto-Root tool by Chainfire. Chainfire is the same developer who is responsible for several handy apps related to rooting like the SuperSU app and the Triangle Away tool.

REQUIREMENTS

  • You must have the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 with the model number GT-N7105T to follow this guide. You can check out your model number by tapping on the Menu > Settings > About Device > Model Number.

BEFORE WE BEGIN

  • You may need to unlock the hidden Developer Options menu on your Galaxy Note 2 by tapping on the Menu > Settings > About Device > Build Number 7 times.
  • You will need to enable the Developer Options menu on your Samsung Galaxy Note 2 smartphone by tapping on the Menu > Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging Mode.
  • Download the Samsung USB Drivers for mobile phones and install them directly on the computer you plan on using during the guide. Without the drivers working properly and up to date, you will struggle getting your computer, its programs such as Odin and the smartphone all working cohesively.

HOW TO ROOT SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 2 GT-N7105T RUNNING ANDROID 4.1.1

  1. Download the CF-Auto-Root package for the N7105T from this link.
  2. Download the Odin flashing tool from this link.
  3. Extract the files on the desktop of your computer running Windows by doing a right-click > extract here from the menu.
  4. Run the Odin executable that is on the desktop by double-clicking over the same.
  5. Turn off the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and reboot it in the download mode so it is ready to get flashed.
  6. Connect the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 N7105T to the computer with the USB cable.
  7. Click the PDA button or the AP button you get from the user-interface of the Odin flashing tool and browse the desktop for the CF-Auto-Root tar.md5 file.
  8. You do not need to make any changes from the default settings you get automatically with the Odin flashing tool; make sure the re-partition is not on.
  9. Click the Start button and wait for the Odin flashing tool to flash Chainfire’s CF-Auto-Root exploit which enabled and installs SuperSU on your device.
  10. Soon you will see the “reboot in 10 seconds” message and the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 should reboot in recovery mode.

Any Galaxy Note 2 that does not get in recovery mode will not successfully complete the guide. You must get in recovery mode by using the hardware buttons and your fingers if it fails to happen automatically. You can do that by holding the Power + Volume Up + Home keys at the same time during the booting process but never if it’s already powered up.
