Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 Student Edition brings you a tab, keyboard, and adapter for $249

There was a time when 7 inch tablets cost $300-400. Then Amazon [2] shook things up with a $199 Kindle Fire [3] and Google [4] recently followed suit with a $199 Nexus 7 [5]. In response, Samsung [6] dropped the price on its 7 inch Galaxy Tabs to $249. Now Samsung has released a new “Student Edition” of its Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 that goes even a step further.

For the same $249 you would spend on a “regular” Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 Student Edition brings you a Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, a keyboard dock, and a USB adapter. The keyboard and adapter are typically extras you need to purchase separately but apparently Samsung thinks students would need the two to further help them in their studies.

The tab that comes with this Student Edition is 8GB WiFi only version and will be released on August 19. There is no word if there will be versions that have more memory or 3G connectivity. There is also no information on if Samsung will try to limit this Student Edition to actual students or if it will be available to the masses. If it is available to the masses, who in their right mind would purchase a regular Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 when the Student Edition gets you more for the same price?
