These are the guidelines to root Samsung Galaxy J7 SM-J7008 smartphones running the current Android 5.1 Lollipop. Once you give your device access to the root file system, you can start installing many more applications from the Google Play Store.

REQUIREMENTS

• You must have installed a custom recovery on the Samsung Galaxy J7 smartphone before you can follow this guide and give it root access.
• The following guide is made for the Samsung Galaxy J7 SM-J7008 model number. You can check that model number by pointing to the Menu > Settings > About Device and taking a look at what the display says for your device.

BEFORE WE BEGIN

• Download the Samsung Galaxy USB Drivers from the Samsung website found on our USB drivers page, or by downloading them from the third-party trusted link we have available on the same page. They both result in the same file on your computer.
• Enable the USB Debugging Mode on the device by heading to the Menu > Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging Mode. Just check the box for that and it will remember your preferences.
• In case you cannot see any Developer Options menu, you can head over to the About Device menu and tap over the build number. Continue tapping over that number for about 7 or 8 times and it will eventually let you know the device is now unlocked and you are a developer. That means you can go back to the settings and find the Developer Options menu with some additional settings inside. One of those settings is the USB Debugging Mode.
• Those wanting to err on the side of caution can back up the data before starting the guide. The data we are talking about is the pictures, music files, videos, settings, call logs, SMS texts and any other data you do not want to lose. The guide doesn’t wipe data automatically, but you might want to wipe the data if you brick the device.

HOW TO ROOT SAMSUNG GALAXY J7 SM-J7008 ON ANDROID 5.1 LOLLIPOP

1. Download the Samsung Galaxy J7 rooting file from here.
2. Download the file above to the computer directly and then move that file over to the desktop of the computer. By default, that file will end up in the Downloads folder if you are using a Windows PC.
3. Connect the Samsung Galaxy J7 to the computer in normal mode and transfer that SuperSU rooting file over to the root of the internal storage SD card.
4. Unplug from the computer and turn off the device.
5. Boot the Samsung Galaxy J7 into recovery mode.
6. Once your device is in the recovery mode, tap on the Install option from the menu.
7. Tap the option to browse your SD card and browse for the SuperSU rooting file.
8. Confirm you do want to install that rooting file on your device.
9. Head back to the main recovery menu and choose the Reboot System option from the menu.
10. Now your device will reboot back in the normal mode and you can browse the Google Play Store for your rooted apps.
11. You might want to kick things off by installing the root checker app and check that your device does have the root access.
